Living Review & automated surveillance

The observatory is designed to remain current through scheduled, transparent, human-in-the-loop updates.

  1. Step 1
    Quarterly trigger

Every 3 months the system runs the systematic-review search across all configured databases.

  2. Step 2
    Multi-source retrieval

PubMed/MEDLINE, Europe PMC, Crossref, Semantic Scholar, OpenAlex, IEEE Xplore. Scopus, Web of Science and Embase remain manual/API-dependent where institutional access is required.

  3. Step 3
    Deduplicate

Records merged by DOI, PMID, title similarity, and author/year heuristics.

  4. Step 4
    AI screening

Each record is screened against the inclusion criteria and tagged likely include / maybe / likely exclude with a written rationale.

  5. Step 5
    Human approval

Likely/maybe records enter the admin review queue. AI-extracted fields propose values with confidence and source quotes; nothing publishes without human sign-off.

No auto-publishing. AI-extracted data is always marked pending review until a human reviewer confirms it. Every change is captured in the update history below.
